Empowering Female Founders: Griddle Partners with Buy Women Built and Whole Foods Market for International Women's Day Celebration

"Not everyone can invest in female founders, not everyone can mentor female founders, but we can all buy from them"

Our mission at Griddle has always been to provide delicious, better-for-you and better-for-planet breakfast products, bringing joy to breakfast tables everywhere. But beyond the breakfast table, as a women-led company, we are also care deeply about fostering a community that uplifts and empowers women in business. That's why it's an honour for us to be a part of the Buy Women Built takeover at Whole Foods Market.

For the next five weeks (Feb 28th - 3rd April), Griddle will be part of the takeover at Whole Foods Market stores nationwide, celebrating International Women's Day, alongside 30 + other kick-ass female founded brands.

What is Buy Women Built all about?

Behind every great brand is a great founder. But how many great founders can you name who are women? Polls reveal a staggering reality. An alarming 81% of 11-18-year-olds are unable to name a single female entrepreneur.

Their plan is simple yet powerful: showcase amazing brands built by women to not only spotlight exceptional female founders but also to harness the influence of consumer spending, creating a fairer and stronger society in the process.

Why focus on women-built brands?

While these brands can undoubtedly stand on their own merit, there's a deeper imperative at play. Most female entrepreneurs start businesses to address their own challenges, leading to the creation of some of the most forward-thinking and disruptive products on the market.

However, there's another critical reason to support Buy Women Built. In the UK, there are 30% fewer female entrepreneurs compared to the US, with only 3% of funded British businesses being female-founded. Imagine the economic potential if women started businesses at the same rate as in other developed countries— an additional £200 billion injected into the economy.

The Buy Women Built initiative isn't just about shining a light on today's entrepreneurs. It's about inspiring the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. After all, you can't aspire to what you can't see. By increasing the visibility of women-built brands, the initiative not only uplifts existing entrepreneurs but also empowers the next generation of girls to dream bigger. And as these companies grow, so too does our economy, becoming stronger and fairer with each opportunity realized.
